Open up the picture and brush. Right click on the brush's image and switch over to where you wish to place your brush. DO NOT PASTE. But go to edit > paste special >  mask. 

Make sure you have picked out your color from the color palette before adding the mask! &Make the brush image the same size as the picture you want to place it. (by right clicking and going to "image size")
